Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has opened up about the most painful defeat after losing to AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana, saying his team should have controlled the game better.
Inter started well, taking a 2-0 lead through Lautaro Martinez and Mehdi Taremi, but Milan got the trick up their sleeves when substitute Rafael Leao came on to turn the game around with three goals from Theo Hernandez, Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham’s stoppage-time winner to secure a 3-2 win.
AC Milan, who started anew with coach Sergio Conceicao, won the championship, while Inter were disappointed and missed the chance to win 4 consecutive titles, all during Inzaghi’s era.
“First of all, we have to congratulate Milan because they didn’t give up even after being two goals down,” Inzaghi said after the game.
“At 2-1 we gave away the ball easily when we should have controlled the game better and then had a lot of chances to make it 3-1 but Mike Maignan made great saves to deny Carlos Augusto and (Denzel) Dumfries.”
“Unfortunately, then we ทางเข้า UFABET สำหรับสมาชิกใหม่ สมัครวันนี้ รับโบนัสฟรี conceded 2-2 and lost. It was a painful defeat, but there have been defeats like this in the last few years and the team always comes back.”
“We have to go home and heal our wounds. We have injuries to deal with. But we have played six games in 18 days, so we need to get back on track.”
